Good Friday 19th April 2019
A four-day Easter break had begun. No need to be up early or endure slow-moving traffic in a journey to the mundane. It was forecast to be a bright and beautiful day. I wanted to spend it outside but I didn’t want to have to travel far.
Having moved to Weston-super-Mare only a few weeks earlier, I’d decided that this would be my first proper walk from my new doorstep. Leaving the car alone, I would walk in the direction of Sand Point.

Saturday 2nd February 2019
It was officially the weekend and the second day of my extended break from work. Many people had been out the previous day to sample the fresh and falling snow.
Again, I hesitated over whether not to go out again, as I’d seen enough snow and was planning to walk the next day… As cabin fever began to set in, I found myself climbing those hills from home again.

Friday 1st February 2019
For the first time in 2019, snow fell across the south-west of England on the evening of Thursday 31st January. I drove through this in the early evening, before it had really begun to settle. Waking up the next morning, I soon received a text message to say that my employer would not be opening their doors for the day…
After a brief return to bed, I was ready to embark on my first snow day since March 2018.

Sunday 18th March 2018
I find it hard to believe but, the Met Office are warning of freezing temperatures and possible snowfall over the coming Easter weekend… This would mean a third instance of snowfall for the southern half of the UK!
Bearing in mind that we hadn’t seen much more than a few flakes since 2013. During the return visit of the ‘Beast from the East’, I did manage a simple solo walk over to the neighbouring village of Churchill.
